Wood imitations - Mahogany

The name mahogany is used for several auburn coloured kinds of wood, all originating from the Swietenia mahagoni tree in West India.
Some well-known species are African mahogany (also called Khaya), American mahogany and Sapelli.
They all have in common that they belong to one of the most decorative kind of woods thanks to their beautiful drawings and deep warm colours.
This drawing of heartwood is from female mahogany (Acajou femelle).
